A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Before you start,
you might want to know.

MaxCap is still being polished.
Give it a try.

Which Macs are supported?+

The current developer preview is for Macs with Apple Silicon (M-series chips) and requires macOS 14 or later. There is no build for Intel Macs yet.

Are my screenshots or recognized text uploaded?+

No. Screenshots, history and text recognition are all handled on your Mac. You can copy or export images yourself and share them with the tools you already use.

What permissions does it need the first time?+

Capturing requires macOS Screen Recording permission. Follow the in-app prompt to allow MaxCap to record your screen in System Settings, and relaunch the app if macOS asks you to.

Is there scrolling capture or screen recording?+

Both. Scrolling capture creates tall vertical images: by default you scroll by hand, and it stitches correctly at any scrolling speed. You can also turn on auto-scroll (requires Accessibility permission). Screen recording captures an area, a window or the full screen, with a countdown, pause, and optional system audio and microphone, and saves to MP4; GIF export is part of Pro. There is no video editing.

Can it pull text out of an image?+

Yes. Press ⌘⇧2 and select an area to copy its text straight to the clipboard. In the capture toolbar and the editor, “Recognize text” lays every word over its place in the image; click or drag to select, then copy in one step. Text recognition runs on your Mac and handles Chinese, English and QR codes.

Is this a final release?+

Not yet. This is a developer preview, and features and stability are still improving. The installer is signed with a developer signature but not yet notarized by Apple, so macOS may show a security warning. See the install and signing guide. Capturing and organizing are free forever; advanced features such as search filters and similar captures are part of MaxCap Pro, with a free 14-day trial after you download. See Pricing.
